Due today: Take-home quiz on Chapters 11-18. Be ready to turn your hardcopy in to me at the beginning of class.

Next class (Monday): You will be taking your unit exam for Brave New World & Our Posthuman Future. In order to be best prepared for this exam, please download and study the following study guide:

DOWNLOAD: Unit Exam Study Guide -- BNW & Our Posthuman Future unit (PDF)

Reminder: Your LRJ prompts (1-4) for Brave New World are due at the beginning of class on Monday. I will collect these for grading.

Today's In-class Assignment (Thur/Fri): You will be completing a "data sheet" for Brave New World. The data sheet is an organizer, a place for you to record your impressions and questions as you are reading, and it becomes a prompt for literary analysis. The data sheet, which amounts to a dense four pages, requires you to look up information on the author of the work and the period in which it was written; identify the characteristics of the genre; analyze key passages; identify and explain literary techniques, metaphors, and themes; and anticipate AP-style questions.

BTW. You will complete a data sheet for each full-length work that we study during the
rest of the year. This is a great way to prepare for and review for unit exams and the A.P. exam.

DOWNLOAD: Blank data sheet for Brave New World (DOC)
DOWNLOAD: Sample data sheet completed for Jane Eyre (DOC)

Download and complete the data sheet for Brave New World. Type your responses in 7 point Courier New and drop-box your progress at the end of class. You should have -- at minimum -- completed the first and second pages (out of four). You will finish the data sheet at home, print it out, and bring it to the exam. You may use it on the exam and you must turn it in with the exam.
